The corona epidemic is not completely eradicated from the world even today. It took crores of people in its grip. Children are also not untouched by the corona disease. Although Kovid-19 infection was seen less in children and adolescents than in adults, but now a worrying thing has come to the fore in the new research. A recent study has claimed that children or adolescents who have had Kovid-19 may increase the risk of type-1 diabetes manifold.

The results of the study have been published in the journal JAMA Open Network. According to the study, there has been a long jump of 72 percent in the treatment of type 1 diabetes in children under the age of 18 years. However, more research needs to be done in this because it is not yet fully proven that it is due to corona that type-1 diabetes has happened in these children.

Kovid-19 increased the risk of type 1 diabetes:

Professor Pamela Davis of the Western Reserve School of Medicine in the US said that type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. In this, the body’s defensive system attacks the cell , due to which insulin cannot be produced. He said that in our study it has also been proved that Kovid has worked to increase autoimmune reactions. According to the study, the risk of type 1 diabetes in children has increased due to Kovid.

The relationship between type 1 diabetes and covid:

For the study, researchers analyzed the health records of 1.1 million children under the age of 18. Children from 13 countries including America were included in this. These children had corona between March 2020 and December 2021 and were treated. It also included some such patients who did not have corona but had to face respiratory problems.

The study found that 123 patients had symptoms of type-1 diabetes among those who had suffered from corona. These people were undergoing treatment for type 1 diabetes. At the same time, 72 patients without corona got treatment for type 1 diabetes. In this way, 72 percent more children got treatment for type 1 diabetes than before. These people who got treatment were earlier suffering from corona.
